story

Hawaiian Sunday is an early bike ride to the beach for a swim, Kona coffee on the lanai, the mynah birds chirping in the mango tree. It’s having no plans at all, freedom to wander up mauka for a tree-covered hike or makai for an all-day beach hang with your hui. It’s sunrise surf sessions, cruising to your local tide pool with your dog, grabbing plate lunch with your favorite auntie, lilikoi and tahitian lime shave ice on a hot afternoon, picking flowers for lei to take to family dinner.  It’s sunshine, rainbows, hot pink blooms, glassy turquoise waves, neon green palm leaves, watercolor sunset skies, and sparkler-strewn starry nights.

Aloha,

I'm Keli, the sun, surf, starry-sky seeker behind Hawaiian Sunday. I have been snapping photos and sketching for fun in hopes of capturing that feeling I'd get when I had one of those days (they usually fell on a Sunday...) with no plans, no agenda, no timeline - days I was free to wander, linger, lounge, to keep surfing when the waves were too fun, to say yes to impromptu coffee dates and pau hana gatherings. I've come to revel in these small moments when time ceased to exist and all the colors, sounds, scents, and sensations bloomed bright and full for the day.

I treasure my Hawaiian Sundays and hope this collection inspires you to enjoy all the small, sunny, happy, easy moments in your life and carry them with you when life gets hectic and time starved once again. Take life easy...easy like Hawaiian Sunday!

me ke aloha pumehana,

Keli Campbell
