I love taking the meandering road to Manini’owali, the way the dark turquoise gives way to sunlit aqua as you get closer. The last few days I spent there, fine sand sugaring my toes after a swim, I noticed these ladies swimming the length of the beach in snorkels and masks. They would swim halfway freestyle, then flip over and backstroke the rest of the way, their movements easy and fluid, simple and peaceful. They reminded me that taking it easy still gets you where you want to go…
